LGPS National Knowledge Assessment

01 Apr 2020

Assessment now live!

The first ever LGPS National Knowledge Assessment (NKA) launched on 17 March. The National Knowledge Assessment is the first of its kind and will provide LGPS funds with a clear insight into the knowledge levels of their key decision-makers on a national basis. We’re very pleased by the number of funds taking part, and already we’ve received a high number of completed assessments from Committee and Pension Board members.

Given the recommendations on required knowledge for both Pension Committee (PC) and Pension Board (PB) members in the SAB Good Governance Report, and increasing scrutiny from TPR, now is the perfect time to complete such an assessment. For those that haven’t signed up, there is still time for your fund to take part in this unique assessment. Please contact Andrew McKerns to discuss.

What are the benefits for you?

By participating in the assessment, your Fund will receive:

  • Your own results report
  • Our analysis and suggested next steps
  • Your benchmarked position against other LGPS funds
  • A recommended training plan tailored for your PC and PB

This assessment will provide key evidence and information to all participating LGPS funds on the management of their fund.

Once we've collated the results, we’ll also share a National Report with commentary and analysis on the current LGPS PC and PB landscape.

How long will the assessment take?

Completion of the survey will take 15 - 20 minutes for each PC or PB member and will be an important step in helping you understand where to focus future training requirements for your fund, and the LGPS as a whole.

We hope you take part in this assessment to help us gain a complete picture of LGPS PC and PB knowledge in 2020.
