Launch of Our 2020/21 CSR Report

19 Jul 2021

Peter Hennessey and Sarah Gilmour introduce Hymans Robertson annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report for the year 2020/21.

When we published our previous annual report, the impacts of the covid-19 pandemic were beginning to be felt, by individuals, societies and economies across the globe, but no one could have imagined what lay ahead.  2020/21 was undoubtedly an extraordinary year and probably our busiest ever in terms of the firm’s CSR activity. This year’s report provides a great overview of what we’ve achieved, both in response to the immediate needs created by the pandemic and in terms of real progress we’ve made in each of the areas our CSR work encompasses.

Our CSR Strategy is underpinned by the firm’s purpose ‘Together, building better futures’ and centres on three core strands:

  • Our Communities: Encompassing our charity and volunteering activities, primarily delivered through the Hymans Robertson Foundation, our Helping Hands teams in each of our offices and the volunteering and fund-raising activity of everyone across firm.
  • Our People: Covering our wellbeing activities, communication and engagement.
  • Our Environment: Delivering on our climate pledge and ensuring that sustainability lies at the heart of the way that we run our firm

Despite the many challenges of the previous year, we are pleased at the progress we’ve made in some of our key priority areas. Adapting our community response meant we were able to provide urgent support to communities and young people via the Hymans Robertson Foundation Hardship Fund, and the Foundations’ Bursary for Young People. We identified our four key Diversity & Inclusion priority areas – gender, ethnicity, LGBTQ+ and social inclusion – and strengthened and developed our efforts to deliver improvements in all four. We launched our climate pledge to halve our carbon footprint and be lifetime net zero by 2025 and offset our 2019/20 carbon footprint in full.

These are just a few of our highlights of the past year. Download the full report to find out more about the work we’re doing in each of our CSR focus areas, what guides our work, and our commitments for the year ahead.
