Andrew Warwick-Thompson

Andrew joined the Board of the Pensions Regulator as an Executive Director in April 2013.  He is now the Executive Director for Regulatory Policy, formulating regulatory policy for automatic enrolment (AE), defined benefit (DB), defined contribution (DC) and public service pension schemes.  He also has responsibility for EU pension policy work.

He is responsible for the development of pension policy with UK Government partners, principally HM Treasury and DWP.

He also works closely with other UK and EU Government agencies, professional and trade bodies and other industry stakeholders including EIOPA, FRC, FCA, HMRC, ABI, IFoA, APL and PLSA to develop a consensus on pensions schemes' governance and administration best practice.

Prior to joining the Regulator, he gained a wide range of consulting and senior management experience in the pensions private sector, spanning employee benefits, life assurance, pensions and asset management markets, both in the UK and internationally.

During 2014 he served as a non-executive member of the ABI's Independent Project Board which was responsible for overseeing the audit of charges and benefits in legacy DC workplace pension schemes provided by ABI members.

From 2011 to 2013 Andrew gave some of his time to the charity Mencap, the voice of learning disability, as Chairman of the Mencap Pension Plan Trustees.

In February of 2000 the Council of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries elected him as an Affiliate Member of the Institute.

He read law at Sheffield University, and then at Guildford College of Law.
