The Autumn Budget on 28 October could have important implications for workplace pensions, employee finances and employer reward strategies.

While no changes have been confirmed, speculation continues around pensions tax relief, salary sacrifice, the Personal Allowance, National Insurance and other savings incentives. Any changes could affect employer costs, pension contributions, take-home pay and the support employers provide to their workforce.

In this publication, we explore the key areas currently being discussed ahead of the Budget and what they could mean for employers with defined contribution (DC) pension arrangements. We also look beyond workplace pensions to consider the future of the State Pension and the wider policy direction of travel.

We cover:

  • which potential Budget measures employers should be monitoring.
  • how possible changes could affect pension costs, employee outcomes and workforce planning.
  • what governance, communication and operational considerations employers may need to prepare for.
  • why employers should avoid making decisions before any measures are confirmed.

The publication includes practical insights to help employers understand the potential implications and prepare for different scenarios ahead of the Chancellor's announcement.
