Securing better futures

Charitable giving and support has always and will continue to play a key role in the firm’s activities and this year's annual report summarises the charitable activity at Hymans Robertson over the last 12 months.

As a firm, we dedicate 2% of our annual profits to an extensive list of charities working with communities across the length and breadth of Britain. In 2016, this amounted to an impressive £146,292, which was divided between our three core charitable areas. These are:

Enhancing financial literacy

Partnering with TLG The Education Charity, Tomorrow's People and Mencap we have run a series of financial literacy programmes at our offices in England and Scotland. These are aimed at encouraging greater financial understanding and engagement among 16-24 year olds as they make the transition into employment, training or further education.

Supporting our local communities

Each of our four offices have established ‘Helping Hands’ committees which have been tasked with reaching out into their local communities and providing support where they can in a huge variety of ways. All our staff have dedicated ‘Volunteer Days’ which they are encouraged to use either individually or as part of a team with a charity of their choosing.

Supporting our employees charitable commitment

We believe that the issues important to our colleagues are also worthy of our support. 2016 has seen a huge variety of endeavours as well as the return of a number of established annual events.

A particular highlight of 2016 has been the recognition of the Hymans Robertson Foundation as a registered charity in Scotland and England & Wales. The Foundation's trustee board is made up of colleagues from right across the firm, truly cementing its intrinsic role within the business. Being established as a registered Foundation provides a focus all our charitable activities to work towards and ultimately improves both the quantity and quality of the support we can offer to the more disadvantaged members of our society.

To illustrate our progress over the year we have compiled a series of case studies from each of our offices (Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London) to represent our priority areas. Keep an eye on our website for these over the next few weeks, or download the full report to find out more.
