TPS costs may fall – what it means for independent schools

calendar icon 17 June 2026

Key Topics

  • The pension landscape for independent schools
  • Insights on the 2024 TPS valuation and how it could affect future costs
  • Tangible actions schools should be considering now

On 19 May, the Government announced the SCAPE discount rate for the 2024 valuation of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS). Early expectations suggest this could lead to a reduction in employer contribution rates from April 2027.

For independent schools, this could be a significant shift. After years of rising costs and difficult decisions, many schools will be asking whether their current approach still stands, and what they should do next.

Join our webinar on 17 June to explore what the 2024 valuation might mean in practice and how schools can respond with confidence.

In this session, we’ll cover:

  • how the pension landscape has changed for independent schools and what we’re seeing across the market.
  • what we know so far about the 2024 TPS valuation and how it could affect future costs.
  • what a reduction in employer contributions could mean, particularly for schools operating a total reward model.
  • the actions schools should be considering now to stay prepared for different outcomes.

You’ll come away with clear insights, and practical steps to help you make informed decisions over the coming months.
