The government has launched another consultation focussed on LGPS benefits and administration, titled Access and Protections.

In our latest briefing note, we provide an overview of this consultation's four key areas and give our thoughts on how they may work in practice: 

  • Changes to the Normal Minimum Pension Age.
  • LGPS access for councillors and mayors.
  • LGPS participation for multi-academy trusts.
  • New Fair Deal: outsourced staff retain LGPS membership via a compulsory 'deemed employer' model, replacing admission agreements.
