At the forefront of our industry, we’re influencing the way it works. We invest in the latest technologies to build our ground-breaking solutions. Through innovative offerings we give our clients the tools to improve their own financial futures.
From our ownership to our advice we’re steadfastly independent. The firm is entirely owned by people working in the business. That means we invest for the long term and put integrity at the heart of everything we do. It also allows our people to think freely and challenge the way things are done, whilst working in our supportive, inclusive environment.
Our teams are passionate about working at the cutting-edge of technology and building software that has a positive impact for our people and society. Together, we can build a better future.
Collaboration and Teamwork
All of our technology and digital teams are multi-disciplinary and we collaborate across many skill areas no matter what the piece of work is or where we are adding value.
We have service, product, content and user experience (UX) designers working with business analysts, software developers and quality engineers, ensuring our teams meet user and business needs.
Most of our products depend on stochastic modelling packages so our teams also include model developers and model quality analysts who are often qualified actuaries.
Bringing it all together is our delivery leadership who help the teams bring strategy to life and keep us all disciplined on our agile principles and continuous improvement.
Underpinning the digital teams is a core IT team who provide secure and resilient infrastructures and platforms that are the engine room of our firm.
The combination of different skills makes for a stimulating and satisfying working environment with lots of opportunity to learn and develop while building the best possible solutions for our firm and clients.
I really value the ability to collaborate with my digital colleagues. Whether it’s workshopping with the dev team to turbo-charge our modelling capabilities with the latest tech or working with our UX experts to better present our solutions.

Our Technology Stack
At Hymans you will work on large scale, complex problems using the latest tools and cloud technologies with highly skilled individuals in multi-disciplinary teams. We target the latest versions of .Net core, Angular, Microsoft 365 and the Microsoft Azure stack as our core development platform.
Our Infrastructure and Operations teams leverage industry leading technologies to support our business and our clients, whilst ensuring cyber security remains at the heart of everything we do.
Our open and collaborative culture provides great support and opportunities for growth. Special interest groups for targeted technology areas allow us to evolve and improve upon our development practices, embracing new UX designs, emerging backend technologies, discuss programming paradigms, design patterns and architectures.
You are always learning – not only about the latest development trends, but about the varied set of domains in which Hymans operate.
C#, F#, R, T-SQL, Web API, Angular, Nx, Ngrx, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, Azure Storage, Azure API Management, Azure Functions, Azure Batch, M365, Powershell, Power Platform, SharePoint Online, Dynamics Online, DataVerse, Leading Security Platforms.
We use Microsoft Azure DevOps, ADO and Git for our source control, build and deployment pipelines.
An assumption that new developments will make use of cloud technology. Increasing proportion of legacy systems now running on Azure cloud.
Firmwide groups of interested people identifying opportunities for the firm in areas such as UI/UX, Artificial Intelligence or improving our release processes.
Automated testing by default is our aim, with the following frameworks in widespread use across our assets – Selenium, Specflow, LightBDD, Cypress, Postman, K6.
Harnessing our CI/CD capability is a priority for all teams providing them with the autonomy to deploy changes to production seamlessly, rapidly and frequently.
Special Interest Groups
We have scaled our organisation structure using networks of communities who get together to cross-pollinate ideas, innovate and push for best practice. The members of these groups are responsible for setting and delivering expectations for their own skill areas. No one knows it better than them, so that makes sense.
We also have expert groups in place where colleagues from key skill areas across multiple teams come together to tackle specific issues. Without these groups we wouldn’t be as successful as we are in delegating CI/CD to our development teams, meeting the stringent security requirements of our industry, or in leading our product design with user experience.
Every single one of us is involved in one or both of these groups, and dedicated time for these activities is protected to ensure we continue to work across teams to achieve our ambitions.
I love the variety in my role. I’m able to continually learn and develop while working in a talented multi-disciplinary digital team, and with a range of stakeholders across our different business units. No two days are ever the same.

I have re-joined Hymans Robertson after a 5 year career gap, through the Women Returners Program. Despite the career gap I’ve felt very welcome and have been supported and encouraged upon my return. I’m delighted to be back - joining Hymans is perhaps one of the best decisions to kickstart my career.
