Good governance underpins every effectively run DC scheme.

By working with us, you’ll benefit from our market-leading technology and member focused approach to ensure that you can deliver governance which goes beyond simply ticking the regulatory boxes.

How can we help?

Whether it’s assessing how well your scheme delivers value for members, supporting members in their journey to and through retirement, or leading the way with best practice governance, trustees need to run their scheme well and achieve better outcomes for their members.

The pensions landscape is changing. Trustees must navigate increasingly complex and comprehensive regulatory requirements, shore up their scheme’s defences from cyber-attacks and set and deliver on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) objectives to name only a few.

Best-in-class governance is not just about compliance. It’s a key driver in enhancing value to members, minimising risk and ensuring better member outcomes.

We give pragmatic, independent, and outcomes focused advice, tailored to your scheme. Living and breathing governance documents also help keep the scheme fresh and benefiting from new ideas.

We can support your DC trustees (single trust or master trust) to deliver best-in-class governance. Our bespoke service ensures a proportionate but high-quality approach is taken to suit your particular needs.

Hymans Robertson have provided us with an excellent, relevant and client-focused service over the years that has led to real change and improvement in the organisation.

Engaging governance technology

We’ve led the way in outcomes-focused DC consulting; our Guided Outcomes (GO™) proposition changed the narrative in DC to focus on member outcomes and benefit adequacy. GO was launched in 2013 and combines three principles, which we believe should form the benchmark for understanding and improving member outcomes:

  1. Setting targets based on the income members will need when they retire.
  2. Understanding what members’ current savings could provide.
  3. Determining actions members, or employers, could take to improve outcomes.

In 2019, we worked with the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) on the launch of their Retirement Living Standards (RLS) and used GO to assess benefit adequacy of the UK population relative to the RLS.

Our GO technology is now an integral part of our consulting and can be used to create insightful governance analytics, inform decisions on investment strategy and scheme design and support member communications and engagement.

We really want our members to have a better route to retirement. They’ve brought great governance and tidied up any issues constructively. We’re in a good place and I’m proud to talk to our members about our plan.
