The DWP recently published its response to its consultation on the introduction of a portfolio alignment metric to TCFD requirements. There were no surprises here with a 4th, forward looking, portfolio alignment metric needing to be included within schemes’ climate governance and reporting from 1 October 2022.

The consultation response also finalised the statutory guidance on stewardship for pension schemes, with new statutory guidance being introduced around the preparation of Implementation Statements for scheme years ending on or after 1 October 2022.  These requirements continue to raise the bar on the expectations of how trustees undertake and report on stewardship activity.
