I've been with Hymans Robertson since March 2017, and I work on the IT Service Desk in our London office, as an IT Support Analyst.
I work with four colleagues in London and four in Glasgow, and between us we support all four of our offices. It's a great team and we communicate well and also laugh a lot!
I genuinely enjoy coming to work every day. I have a two hour door-to-door journey, so to still enjoy my work after that means it must be good! I've never really had that before. Of course a big part of my enjoyment at Hymans is that I get to work with technology and computers daily, but the other equally as important part is that Hymans is a really great place to work. Whether it's our recently introduced casual dress code (which in my opinion is absolutely the way forward for every company), or our genuinely friendly and caring people. There are loads of great benefits to working here.
On a day to day basis I enjoy a wide spectrum of challenging and interesting work. My primary role is to fix any IT problems my colleagues face across our London and Birmingham offices. The work is varied, and I have a lot of freedom in how I structure my day. That's something that in other firms may be locked down to strict roles specific to the IT industry such as 1st and 2nd line support roles. It's not like that with Hymans. We're treated like adults, which shouldn't be a surprise, but so many firms seem to treat their employees like naughty kids! Hymans doesn't.
Another thing I love about working at Hymans, is the strong emphasis on personal development and training they have. I'm extremely lucky to be in an IT department that actively supports me in my efforts to learn. IT is an ever changing world, perhaps more so then any other industry, but Hymans covers the costs of all my training, study materials, and exams, and then rewards me if I pass the exams I want to take! That is most definitely a win-win deal if I do say so myself.
Hymans is a genuinely caring company. Companies like to say stuff like that but in reality they don't always operate that way. Hymans back their words up with action, and that is extremely special. I've seen countless examples in my time at Hymans that have proved this to me personally. When a company truly values it staff it just makes you want to go the extra mile for them, and do the absolute best job you can. Hymans does this so well, and they also give me an unlimited supply of fruit squash, fruit, and biscuits (on a Thursday), what more could I possibly want from a job?!
Hymans says they want your role with them to be the best job you've ever had, and for me that's exactly how it is.
I can honestly say I have never had a job like this. Hymans Robertson is an absolute gem of a company, and I look forward to what the future holds for myself and Hymans.
