Longevity Consultant - VITA 

Location: Glasgow; London; Birmingham 
Term: Permanent 

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Client Work: reviewing reports generated for Club Vita’s subscribers, undertaking longevity related analysis, developing advice and procedure documents/reports for clients seeking advice on longevity related issued, and presenting results to clients as appropriate
  • PR: producing articles and other marketing materials to support the promotion of Hymans Robertson’s longevity proposition. Speaking at appropriate conferences, seminars and events to raise awareness of Hymans Robertson’s research and the capability of the firm’s longevity proposition
  • Product Development: assisting with the specification of Vita products and enhancements, user testing and education across the business
  • Business Development: assisting in identifying prospects for Vita and Hymans Robertson’s longevity consultancy, considering how to target them and developing key messages. Participating in the ‘pitch process’ to prospects as appropriate

Personal characteristics:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively and confidently both verbally and in writing with clients and colleagues
  • A flexible, proactive and creative approach to client solutions and client management
  • Able to present information and/or solutions in a clear and simple way that helps clients to grasp complex concepts regardless of prior knowledge or ability level
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting demands
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with good attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • A team player with a hands on approach
  • A willingness to travel to London on a regular, weekly basis will be required at least initially

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Likely to be a Fellow of the Institute or Faculty of Actuaries
  • Experience of operating successfully in a consultancy role within an employee benefits/pensions environment and of having managed relationships with clients
  • Experience in business development is highly desirable
  • A sound understanding and grounding in actuarial techniques used in the valuation of employee benefits and pensions as well as an understanding of the legislative framework for UK pension schemes
