Recently qualified actuary
So you want to be an actuary?

Do you have a questioning mind and the desire to test your intellect on a daily basis? If so, there’s no better career for you than that of an actuarial consultant with Hymans Robertson.

Every year we recruit a number of highly talented graduates who are ready to embark on their career of becoming a consulting actuary.  With a solid grounding in maths essential, we recruit graduates from a wide range of numerical disciplines.  Recent actuarial trainees have come from varied backgrounds ranging from those with PhDs in Maths and Physics to those with undergraduate degrees in Statistics, Aeronautics, Engineering and Economics.

Make no mistake, it’s a huge challenge.

To qualify as an actuary you’ll be required to master economics, probability, statistics, financial mathematics and more. You’ll also have to be able to keep track of changing legislation, demographics and markets. And you’ll need to develop the high level people skills that you’ll need to become a valued consultant to our clients.

The effort is well worth it though. When you qualify as an actuary, you’ll be part of one of the most respected and highly rewarded professions in the UK – a profession offering enormous variety and opportunity and one that is in ever increasing demand.

Sounds like a career for you? Then have a look around our site and you will find out more information, such as the superb study package we offer our graduate trainees to help them qualify as a Fellow of the Institute (FIA) or Faculty of Actuaries (FFA).
