How much and where

Traditionally public sector investment strategy has simply been seen as a question of ‘where do we invest the fund’s money?’  At Hymans Robertson, we take a different approach.

In line with our focus on fully joined-up thinking, we believe the development of your investment strategy must go hand-in-hand with your funding strategy.  After all, there are multiple combinations of contribution rates and investment strategies that your fund could try, from a low risk/high contribution approach at one of the scale, to a high risk/low contribution style at the other.  Our job is to find the optimum solution for your particular requirements.

To do this we employ stochastic modelling that shows, as probabilities, the possible future impact of changing one or both of the fund’s investment and contribution strategies.  This will factor in both your attitude to risk and to socially responsible investment, helping you come to a fully considered solution.

The recommendations we make are informed by our in-depth knowledge of investment markets, asset classes and fund managers.  We also have a manager grading system to add transparency to our decision-making process and a formal evaluation process for monitoring manager performance.

Our aim throughout is to ensure your fund remains able to meets its long-term commitments.
